Welcome Back

ECC through 4th Grade Physical Education Mission Statement

The Physical Education program will provide a positive, safe and enjoyable environment that engages each child to be actively involved and equally successful through physical movement.

Important Reminder: On the days that your child has P.E., please have them wear (or bring to school) appropriate shoes so they can fully participate. Due to safety concerns, your child will not be able to participate if they do not have safe shoes on. *See below for the days that your child has P.E.

Examples of shoes that are not appropriate: Sandals, Crocs, flip-flops, boots with heels, shoes with wheels. All shoes must have skid resistant soles, cover the entire foot and be properly secured to the foot. If you have any questions about what kinds of shoes are permitted, please do not hesitate to ask Mrs. S!

What are we doing in Gym today?

Toddlers

Twice a week the toddlers come to P.E. ready to play! Whether we are working as a group or individually playing with equipment like balls, balloons, hoola hoola hoops, balance beams/balls, we will begin to explore how our body moves. Whether we are running, jumping, balancing, or learning to catch and throw a ball, we will embrace the excitement and confidence that comes from exploring how our body moves!

Preschool-Kindergarten
As we learn how to focus and challenge our own body through fun group games and individual stations, we will continue to develop our gross motor skills while at the same time learning what it means to work and play as a team.

1st-4th Grade

In the 1st-4th grade, my goal is to help each student develop an active identity while learning the value of physical activity, and that exercise can be fun! Through group games, sport and differentiated instruction, we will learn the importance of physical health while exercising the life skills practiced throughout our school. Questions we will ponder this year: What does it mean to be 'fit'? What is endurance? What does it mean to be on a team? Do I need to play a sport to be active?
