The Physical Education program at St. Paul’s will provide a positive, safe and enjoyable environment that engages each child to be actively involved and equally successful through physical movement.
General Objectives for ECC-Kindergarten:
- To help students develop and refine motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
- To practice a variety of physical activities with the goal of promoting the benefits of health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction through movement.
Preschool--30 minutes two times a week
Prekindergarten--30 minutes twice a week
- General movement and safety: walking, running, jumping, galloping, hopping, skipping
- Control of body movements: bend, stretch, freeze, balance
- Use of large muscle groups: throw, kick, bounce, catch
- Use of gross body movements such as dance
- Safe movement forward, backward, sideways, up and down
- Play games involving movements and directions
- Negotiates obstacle course
- Moves his/her body to a rhythm (dancing, stomping, marching)
General Objectives for 1st through 4th Grade:
- To help students develop and refine motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
- To practice a variety of physical activities with the goal of promoting the benefits of health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction through movement.
1st Grade--30 minutes two times a week
2nd-4th Grade--30 minutes three times a week
